Cory Cavazos
Cavazos is an established Seattle artist with a unique vision to share music shaped by purpose and meaning. He plays cello, guitar, and bass guitar with a distinct sound that resonates with passion. He studied musical arts at California Institute of the Arts and cello performance at Cornish College of the Arts.
Cavazos employs thoughtful lyrics, complex rhythm, and talented musicianship to create an emotionally gripping musical statement. Advocating for mental health, he aims to bring together a community of artists and advocates inspired to break down barriers created by stigma.
Cavazos blends Latin rhythm, jazz modes, poetic verse, and challenging passages into a genre representative of his own story. His music has been a way of expressing thoughts and emotions he could not otherwise bring to words. He started playing cello at the age of nine. He then learned to play the guitar and bass guitar, watching YouTube videos and listening to his father, who has played guitar since he was little.
His father, Manuel, was a big influence on Cory. Manuel and him formed a duo, The Cavazos, giving Cory vibrant experience performing and improvising.
